Hair extensions in Delaware, Ohio are more accessible than most people realize — and more nuanced than most people expect. Before you book, here's what you should actually know: the types of extensions we offer, how the first appointment works, what maintenance looks like, and how to decide if extensions are the right move for your hair and lifestyle.
The Extensions We Offer
Hand-Tied (Sewn-In) Wefts
Hand-tied sewn-in wefts are the gold standard for a reason. Individual wefts of hair are hand-sewn onto small beaded tracks installed close to the scalp. The result is extremely natural — no visible bonds, no bulk at the root, and movement that looks like your own hair.
Sewn-in wefts are ideal for clients who want significant length or volume and are willing to commit to the maintenance schedule. They require a move-up appointment every 6–8 weeks as your natural hair grows.
Sewn-in wefts are the one method we offer, because it's the one we trust to look seamless and protect the health of your natural hair. We don't do tape-ins.
Why a Consultation Is Required
We require a complimentary consultation before booking any extension service — and this isn't just policy, it's in your interest. Extensions are a significant investment in time and money, and they only work well when your natural hair is healthy enough to support them and the method matches your goals.
In the consultation, we assess:
- Your hair's current health and texture
- What length, volume, or density you're looking to add
- Which extension method fits your lifestyle and maintenance comfort
- Color matching — extensions should be colored to blend seamlessly or ordered in the right shade
"Extensions done wrong are obvious and damaging. Extensions done right are invisible and transformative. The consultation is what determines which outcome you get."
— Kayla Haddad, Patina SalonWhat the First Appointment Is Like
After the consultation, your first extension appointment is typically longer than a standard color or cut service — plan for 3–5 hours depending on the method and the amount of hair being installed. This is normal and expected.
Your stylist will prep your natural hair, install the extensions row by row, then cut and blend everything together so it looks like your own hair. Before you leave, you'll get a full care and maintenance tutorial.
Maintenance: What You're Committing To
Extensions require consistency. Here's the real picture:
- Move-up or refresh appointments every 6–8 weeks
- Sulfate-free shampoo to protect the wefts and your natural hair
- Avoiding heat directly on the attachment points
- Brushing daily with a loop or extension-safe brush to prevent matting
- No going to sleep with wet hair
Clients who take care of their extensions consistently get a beautiful result that lasts. Clients who skip the maintenance end up with matting, breakage, and an expensive fix.
Is It Worth It?
For the right client, absolutely. If you've been frustrated with slow-growing hair, thin ends, or a style that just won't get to where you want it — extensions are genuinely life-changing. The investment in time and money is real, but so is the result.
If you're on the fence, come in for a consultation. It's free, there's no pressure, and you'll leave knowing exactly what it would take.
